Marianne's Backstory A female Ralts was hatched from an egg in human captivity. This Ralt's was later given to her first and only trainer at a very young age. This trainer named her Marianne. Marianne's trainer raised her during his (the trainer is a man) journey through his native pokemon region and becoming one of the trainers who beat the region's champion in a pokemon battle (I imagined that this would all take place in the Sinnoh region, but any region where Ralts can be found naturally would work). During this journey, Marianne evolved into a Kirlia and then later evolved into a Gardevoir. Long after her trainer won against a champion, Marianne had reached level 100 and had become a fully matured adult Gardevoir. By this time, Marianne's trainer was years into adulthood, had entered into the work force, and bought a home to live in. He was no longer interested in catching, collecting, researching, raising, training, and battling pokemon, nor willing to bear the financial burden of continuing to take care of the many pokemon he still had. This former pokemon battler began to either give away his pokemon to other people to care for, or release them into an appropriate habitat. As the years passed, Marianne was the only pokemon who her trainer had continued to live with. Marianne was very special to her trainer, and was the one companion who he could not bear to send away. Marianne was also particularly special in general. Specifically, she was an extremely intelligent pokemon. Marianne demonstrated learning abilities and understanding of abstract concepts that exceeded most other mentally advanced psychic type pokemon. Her trainer and others began to noticed this from how quickly she was able to adapt to new challenges when Marianne was still a young raltz. Over the years, Marianne developed a strong comprehension of spoken language (English in this case). With the help of her trainer, she slowly learned how to read and write. In the years that followed, she took her learning further. After much studying, practice, and testing, Marianne became decently educated. As Marianne continued to learn more on her own, she began to feel strange about her identity as a pokemon and her relationship with her trainer. Most pokemon had animalistic intelligence at most, and were normally considered as pets, work animals, and even livestock. Yet, Marianne could clearly communicate with most humans through either written text or telepathy (Marianne had issues speaking, as she was a Gardevoir). She had been witnessed by many people to buy goods from stores, order food at restaurants, and assist people with practical tasks, all by herself. One day, Marianne decides to have a serious discussion with her trainer about her relationship with him. She proposes the plan that she leaves his captivity to live her own life. She considered either getting a career and living on her own in human society, or living a much simpler life amongst other Gardevoir and Gallade in their natural habitat. Marianne's trainer was very upset that Marianne wanted to leave, and refused to permit it. The two argue with each other for hours. That evening, Marianne's trainer is ready to make to a decision. Marianne's trainer finally admits that it was not right to force another sentient and capable individual to remain his captivity. The trainer deactivates Marianne's pokeball, and shreds all legitimate copies of his official certificate of custody of Marianne. In practice and in official terms (sort of), Marianne had no owner. She was her own pokemon. And with her newfound freedom, plans, ambitions, and some money that she had saved, Marianne left her trainer's property. Several weeks went by as Marianne tried to explore herself. It was not easy nor comfortable to aimlessly travel by herself and survive. But it was the loneliness that hurt Marianne the most. She thought about her former trainer a lot. Every passing hour, she missed him more and more. At long last, she returns to her former caretaker's property. She knocks on the door, greeted herself to the familiar person who answers it, and explained why she returned. Marianne admitted that she wanted to live with her lifelong companion again, and would gladly do so if she could still be her own individual. Without hesitation, Marianne's closest friend accepts this. Then, with very intense emotions, the two immediately embrace each other in a tight hug. The two lived with each other ever since. *** Despite Marianne's time training and battling during her early years, she was never in great physical shape. It was just how her genetics naturally made her. She enjoyed eating all kinds of culinary delights, was willing to sit still for hours at a time to read and learn, and loathed physical labor. Once she began to master her psychic powers and mystical abilities, she preferred to move herself and other objects of interest with her telekinesis instead of directly using her body. This was never too much of an issue during Marianne's time battling, something that she never enjoyed. But as one would imagine, the frequent pursuit of new, tasty foods and a lack of physical activity had a predictive effect on her body. Marianne was always noticeably flabby during her time as a Ralts and as a Kirlia. While her wider proportions were more pronounced when she first became a Gardevoir, Marianne was not exceptionally overweight. As Marianne lived with her human partner over the years, she became well accustomed to many different luxuries. One such luxury was easy and affordable access to all the sweet treats that she could desire. Day after day, Marianne indulged in new sugary delights amongst her many other daily activities. It was not long until the more than chubby Gardevoir became exceptionally corpulent. Marianne was always well aware of her ample bodily proportions. During her formatives years, she was very insecure about those features. But as she matured and happily acclimated to a more comfortable lifestyle, Marianne's insecurity of her body had melted away. As she continued to widen, Marianne slowly developed a feeling of pride for the new features of her body. Her physique was a clear representation of the lifestyle where she's always well fed and rarely ever exerts her body. It was the lifestyle that she gladly chose and continued to choose. Marianne's partner's appreciation for these changes too were also a factor that helped perpetuate the process. *** Marianne always had a romantic preference for humans. Her unusual affinity for people was plausibly caused by the environments she grew up in and how she was surrounded by people her whole life, but it also could have just been due to some strange quirk that she had. Once Marianne had been a Gardevoir for some time, her affections for her trainer continued to grow in different ways. At that point, Marianne realized that she preferred men more than both male Gardevoir and Gallade (who are always male). While Marianne's romantic feelings were almost always subtle, there were times when she would get overly protective of her former trainer whenever she encountered potential competition. Marianne witnessed many different women come and go in her former trainer's life. He was not a particularly attractive or captivating man, and never had any romantic success with any of the women he met. Even if he had ever managed to get a date with another person, Marianne would have never allowed it to happen. Marianne would not let any of the perceived tramps she saw her trainer meet to ever get the chance break his heart, or even worse, steal away his love. While it was a rare occurrence, Marianne would often stand very close to her partner, grasp one of his hands, and glower menacingly whenever a decently looking woman who was within a certain age range would get too physically close to Marianne's lifelong companion. It was often an awkward yet effective solution whenever Marianne used it. Marianne usually got along well with most of her former trainer's pokemon. She typically did not mind the other female pokemon he obtained that were also either humanoid or intelligent psychic types (this includes species of pokemon like Alakazam, Jinx, Hypno, Mr.Mime, Machoke/Machamp, Medicham, Froslass, Gothitelle, Lucario, Weavile Mienshoa, Lilligant, Leavanny, Zoroark, Delphox, Florges, Incineroar, Lurantis, Tsareena, Salazzel). That is, all but for just one exception. Marianne's former trainer had once evolved a Buneary into a Lopunny. This required him to form a very friendly relationship that was emotionally deeper than what Marianne would have allowed. The fact that Lopunny were naturally very frisky, had exceptionally insatiable libidos, and were known for their beauty, made Marianne even more hostile. It was not long before the Gardevoir and Lopunny could barely stand each other. The two would very frequently fight over their trainer's attention and compete with each other whenever they could. Marianne's trainer had eventually found another trainer to take his Lopunny, who the two quickly mutually accepted each other, much to Marianne's relief. As Marianne and her companion lived together alone for years, ideas of physical intimacy between them would be brought up. Marianne's feelings were certainly not unrequited. Having mastery of her telepathy and mindreading abilities, in addition to being naturally adept to sensing the emotions from other lifeforms using her chest horn (chest spur), Marianne was well aware of how her partner felt about her before he even could explained it himself. There was no denying that the topic of intercourse between humans and pokemon was very weird, taboo, and ethically questionable, no matter what the circumstances were. There were good reasons as to why they choose to have separate bedrooms. Still, after enough time, the two would finally come to a mutual agreement on the matter.
