HOW TO DOWNLOAD FROM DROPBOX
A guide for the absolutely retarded
Step 1:
Go to
https://ytdl-org.github.io/youtube-dl/download.html
and download youtube-dl. It's the "Windows.exe" link.
Once downloaded, put it anywhere on your PC.
Step 2:
Go to
https://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/
and download ffmpeg. No need to touch any of the settings in the download page, just click "Download Build".
You will get a zip file with some folders inside. Go into the main folder (for me it's "ffmpeg-20200312-675bb1f-win64-static") and then into "bin". You will find three .exe files inside. Drop ffmpeg.exe into the same folder where you've put youtube-dl.
Step 2:
IF USING CHROME, go to the Dropbox webpage of the video you want to download. Press F12. A confusing screen will come up. Don't panic. Depending on your browser settings, the screen could be a pop-up window or somehow embedded in your browser window. It doesn't matter.
This DevTools window (because that's what it's called) has many tabs, including "Elements", "Console", "Network", etc. Make sure you're in the "Elements" tab. Click within the portion of the window that holds all the code with the the angle brackets, i.e. where you see stuff like "<!DOCTYPE html>" and "<div" and </div>" and "</script>" and "<link".
IF USING FIREFOX, switch to chrome lol
jk jk, the procedure is identical to the way it's done in Chrome, only instead of th e"Elements" tab you need to go to the "Inspector" tab.
Step 3:
Press ctrl+f and search for ".m3u8". You should find at least one web address within the page pointing to some sort of .m3u8 file. Pick the first one your browser finds, and copy it.
You can select it by double clicking on it inside the DevTools window. Alternatively, just right-click it and pick "Copy Link Address".
Step 4:
Now I'm gonna assume you have no clue how to use commandline programs like youtube-dl. If so, you might notice that when you try running youtube-dl, you just get a black window that pops up for a fraction of a second and then disappears. No worries.
The simplest way to go about this is to hold shift and right-click the empty space in the folder where you have youtube-dl installed, then choosing "Open command window here" from the context menu. This opens a CMD window in the folder you want. I know that works in Windows 7, no clue about Windows 10.
Either way, another possibility is to copy the exact path where you have youtube-dl installed (e.g. "C:\Users\Anonymous\Desktop\ytdl"), then hold the windows key (the one between right ctrl and right alt) and press R. In the "Run..." window that will open, type in "cmd" and press enter. Now you should have a black screen open. Simply type in "cd" followed by the path you copied (e.g. "cd C:\Users\Duck\Desktop\ytdl"). If the path is in some harddrive other than the C: drive, you must first type in the appropriate drive letter followed by a colon (e.g. "D:", followed by "cd D:\Programs\ytdl").
If the path to the youtube-dl folder has a space in it (e.g. "C:\New Folder\ytdl") you must encase it in quotation marks.
Step 5:
Finally, once you have a black CMD window open in the youtube-dl folder, all you need to do is to type "youtube-dl LINK_TO_M3U8_FILE", where LINK_TO_M3U8_FILE is obviously the address you copied back in Step 3.
Press enter and let it download. Viola.
