I feel for me, one of the appeals of Aoba over the other Habutton works is that it emphasizes how Aoba's identity as a person is increasingly displaced and shifted by her intention to gain weight and its consequences. At the beginning of the story she's a very shy, yet studious and diligent girl, and because of Koya's influence, she undergoes a number of changes: eating before studying first makes her 'too full to concentrate', then eventually it makes her sleepy enough to choose go to bed over doing her homework, and eventually she gets to a point where she cannot study without eating. Her excitement at her increasing bust size and curiosity at her own body influences her to eventually create a public profile where she interacts with people online that would presumably shape her self-opinion further. Overall, it shows a person that's increasingly giving in to her impulses and desires over what is the 'prudent' thing to do. I think it stands out for anyone with 'taboo' fetishes, especially if they repress or sideline their desires for real-life obligations, because stories like these are a bit of catharsis where characters get consumed by a desire that they hadn't fed before.
I'm very curious to see how her journey goes beyond high school because of her choices - as much as I like the large entries Habutton does like the Athletic series and Honeymoon Days, I really wish Aoba had more output, especially lately (the previous entry was May 29 :'( )
