I like how it could be interpreted in multiple ways; either the weight gain signifies time moving forward or the two of them initially saw each other just as they remembered them, only for the reality of their bodies slowly revealing themselves once they catch up. Either way, the idea of using weight gain as a narrative allegory is such a novel concept we don't see often in WG comics.
