[Because this post is quite long and contains important informations, there's a TL;DR with the most important informations at the end]
Hey everyone,
Let's continue with the series of posts about the upcoming changes to my Patreon. Here’s where we currently stand:
Part 1 - Feedback Takeaways
Part 2 - What's Changing (this post)
Part 3 - Tiers Update (coming soon)
After analyzing the form submissions in the previous post, this time I’ll go into detail about all the planned changes, what the new schedule looks like, and what changes are still under consideration and may be implemented if things go well.
Planned changes
Short comics to become permanent
This is by far the biggest change: after the update I'll be working on short comics on a permanent basis alongside Log Myu. I've made room for them in the new schedule. My experience over these past five months working on the new short comic and dealing with the irregular release of Midori's Growth pages in 2024-2025 has made it clear that this is necessary if I want pages to be delivered consistently (or at all). To make room for them, I had to reduce some content. I opted to cut down on the number of individual pieces. More details are provided below in the "New schedule" section.
Short comics won' t follow a fixed page format or a specific length. If I can wrap a short story satisfactorily in fewer than 10 pages, so be it. However, I don't expect them to exceed 20 to 25 pages. My goal is to keep them short enough to be fully drafted before they start to be released (unlike Log Myu), which should improve overall quality. This approach is however incompatible with longer short comics comics like Midori's Growth (34 pages). If a story requires more pages, I'll split it into parts/chapters that wouldn't be released consecutively to leave enough time to prepare everything properly. With that setup, I estimate that 2 to 4 different full short comics or parts/chapters will be released each year.
There will be periods of time during which I'll be polishing drafts and won't be able to release short comic pages. Whenever that happens, I'll release Log Myu pages instead, which should speed up things a little.
To wrap up this overview of short comics: many of you made suggestions about what I could do with them, without even knowing they'd become permanent. I took notes!
Updating Character polls to Fanart polls
Character polls will be renamed to Fanart polls to clearly indicate that they focus only on mainstream characters and don't allow OCs like they did a few years ago. This won't be just a name change : you will now be able to suggest characters across all four categories: Chubby Fanart, Plus Size Fanart, Super Size Fanart and Ultra Size Fanart. I expect this will increase participation in all sizes, and will make choosing who to suggest much less of a dilemma. However, Fanart polls will take place less frequently than Character polls, as I chose to maintain the frequency of more popular polls, and to introduce new poll categories.
OC polls on the starting block
This new counterpart to the Fanart poll has been requested for a long time, and will help rebalance content slightly toward original character material.
An important detail you may have seen coming if you read the previous post: the OC poll will only include characters I've created.
The feedback form made it clear that grouping all OCs together (mine, those of other artists, and those of patrons) wouldn't work. More people said they were likely to vote for my characters (91%) than those of other artists (51%) and patrons (35%) combined. I'm considering other options for these two categories of characters.
The OC poll will be somewhat unique in that the winner will receive new material in some form. This could take many different formats (an individual piece, a mini-comic, a before-and-after, an animation, a sequence...), depending on what fits best and how much time I have available. The purpose of this poll is basically to tell me: "do more with that character". Because it's something some of you mentioned they wanted to see happen: all content originating from this poll will be considered canon and integrated into the continuity.
Prequel polls finally make a debut
Back in December 2024, I asked what you thought about the idea of Prequel polls. An overwhelming majority supported it. I don't expect these polls to be as competitive as Sequel polls, so they'll make a timid debut, but I believe they'll greatly help complete drawing series that started at a bigger size.
Theme poll returns
The return of Theme polls was requested multiple times in your feedback. As you might have noticed, they returned last month, with adjusted rules that will remain in place until I've caught up with delayed content.
Reskins to solve legacy suggestion issues
For the past couple of months I've been offering subscriptions on DeviantArt alongside those on Patreon. Managing the rules across both platforms has required me to make some adjustments. For example, Patreon does not allow force-feeding outside of a "greater narrative", while DeviantArt does. Conversely, DeviantArt is much stricter when it comes to age-ups of canonically underage characters (their new design must not resemble the underage version), whereas Patreon consider all depictions acceptable as long as characters are clearly identifiable as adults.
Because I had to account for these differences in rules, I recently added asterisks next to certain poll options that are "legacy suggestions". They're suggestions that were first made before rule changes. The most typical example is a suggestion involving a canonically underage character who has no canonical age-ups, and as such could only be published on Patreon, leaving DeviantArt subscribers starved for content.
Up until now and for lack of a better solution, I've been handling legacy suggestions by selecting a second non-legacy winner that I can publish across all platforms, in addition to the one restricted to a single platform. This effectively meant doing twice the work, which is not sustainable. From now on, I'll take a different approach, and release "reskins" instead. The principle is fairly simple: I take the drawing of the mainstream character, and make them unrecognizable by changing elements such as colors, details and hairstyles. This should help maintain a steady flow of content everywhere!
Quarterly Q&A
A few comments mentioned issues that I should have heard about earlier, which made me realize that I didn't have a space outside of Discord to receive them, especially since I hadn't run a feedback post in quite some time.
I'll soon create a Q&A post so that you can ask any question you have. This post will return on a quarterly basis as I don't think a higher frequency is necessary at this point, but I'll adjust it if needed.
New schedule
A more realistic schedule
After I launched my Patreon in 2020, the amount of content planned in the schedule steadily increased for a long time. It peaked in 2023, and even then I was sometimes delivering slightly more than what was planned. Since then, however, things have declined.
2024 and 2025 were marked by delays, breaks and undelived content, almost entirely due to things happening IRL that I had little to no control over. Because I track my working time, I can say that by the end of 2025, I had accumulated a work debt of 560 hours (roughly 3 to 4 months of content), 75% of which was built up during 2024 and 2025.
During these two years I had to gradually scale back content, delay releases and suspend certain poll categories.
The new schedule considers these past two years as the new norm. The goal is to create a realistic schedule where unexpected events IRL don't turn into catastrophic disruptions with long-term consequences. A schedule that doesn't overpromise. I'd rather overdeliver again than keep missing deadlines. I want the baseline to be reliable.
Unfortunately, there aren't many ways to achieve this: some content has to be cut down. I can quantify it, and it's about 8 to 9 fewer individual pieces over a year compared to the previous statu quo. We'll go into more detail a bit later.
The revised schedule
Here's what's it looks like. The left part describe the polls, the right part the content created that week, and the bottom part how weeks are planned.
Some observations:
The schedule is now organized into four quarters of 13 weeks. This will make polls highly predictable throughout the year as it fits perfectly into a 52 week cycle
Sequences will now take two weeks instead of one. It's an acknowledgment that they're time-intensive creations that simply require more time than regular drawings or pages. They've put me behind the schedule many times in the past, so I believe this adjustment is necessary to keep the schedule reliable.
The weeks in grey are dedicated to short comics. During these weeks, no individual pieces or sequences are produced. Instead, short comic pages are created. As you can see, they occur every three weeks, which I believe to be enough for the creation of three pages. If needed, this will be adjusted.
Three pages, four times per quarter, amount to 12 pages per quarter. The thirteenth week, during which sequences will be released, won't have a short comic page.
For the time being, Log Myu pages will remain fixed at at least two pages per week, which has been the pace for many months now. Whenever I don't have short comic pages ready to release because they're still being drafted, the Log Myu pages replacing them will be released on Wednesdays.
For the sake of clarity, I put poll results on Saturday because that's when the polls end, but they usually end late and I post the results the following day.
