Halfway through... It's very short but slow-going because it's written first-person in country Irish dialect (!). This also makes it impossible to skim. FWIW it takes place in the early Aughts. Cover makes it seem like it would be Ye Olde Tymey like Banshees of Inishmore or something.
The good news is that it's basically WG fic — I'm not kidding. Also based on the cover I assumed "the fattest woman in Ireland" would be 190 pounds or something. But no, she's first pegged at 26/27 stone (360+) and gets bigger from there.
From page one she's talking about her size, describing her body, her overeating, outgrowing clothes, beds, rooms, cars, getting stuck, a great slob scene if you're into that, people's reactions and humiliation and so on.
It get's better: At this point in the book the economically depressed town she lives in is planning a "Fat Festival" with her as the centerpiece, everyone encouraging her to get even bigger. There's an unrelated subplot brewing about one of the MC's friends but it's incomprehensible and who cares.
It's killing me not to just devour the rest of this book (NPI) but I really haven't had 30 straight minutes alone since I got it.
I've gotta thank the OP big-time for hipping me to this. As a thank-you I'm thinking I'll phone pic each page and post it this afternoon, even before I finish. Stay tuned...
