Heyy, Yummysinpie here! A fan forwarded me this post so figured I would pop in and address some things here. I always welcome criticism and suggestions, because I feel those can help me be a better artist, but false accusation is something else…

> isn't it yummy who makes the threads
No, I don't make any threads on here. I enjoy browsing the board occasionally for its interesting, unrestrained opinions and such, though I don't think it's the best place for me to self promote. But I do appreciate any fans who enjoy my work and want to share it with others though!

> this artist either never uploads…
I upload 3 comic pages a week on average in between other art pieces to my subscribers with 2 pages releasing every week publicly on DeviantArt on a short delay. I’ve been doing this for more than two years now. I do aim for variety in both sizes and shapes. As someone else mentioned, the comic you see above very intentionally featured an hourglass with the redhead, a pear with the cutie yellow munchkin, and a big ol’ green apple. I don’t believe you’ve given an honest look at the comics, which is okay, but these points you’re saying as ‘fact’ here just don’t make any sense if you did…

> there is a reason why the best pages are the ones that have sequences of the characters getting bigger cuz that's what everyone just wants to see
In this post, I really do appreciate your feedback and take it into account. I think you might be very surprised to hear that I received some harsh criticism and actually lost subscribers due to my recent comic BRR:D&F being roughly 90% WG focused, 10% story. Subs do come and go for any number of reasons, and that can’t be helped, but I attached a very vocal exit survey that said their reason, clear as can be. Take note their sub price of $2: That’s a loyalty pricing of mine from years ago, so that’s a subscriber who liked my mainline BRR comic for years prior that was full of slow story and ‘filler’, that ended their subscription the moment I delivered on exactly what you’re suggesting that I, and all the other artists doing comics, should be doing with our comics. They were not alone in this opinion, as I had many fans leaving comments wondering when I’d wrap up this all WG comic and get back to the story focused comic instead as that’s what they prefer.
I sort of already knew this from the start heading into BRR:D&F, so I designed it with a tight, self-contained, and short story that in the end came in at a mere 37 pages. Large parts of the comic are basically just a weight gain sequence. Which is nice sometimes, but it’s also like a movie that’s all action, no time to breathe in-between. There’s a lot more that goes into a comic and the story you craft with it that makes use of the comic format itself that really is the key that separates WG comics from just being a WG sequence.

The BRR VN is still in development. I can understand a lack of patience, but please do not misconstrue the reality that games take a large amount of time, money, and effort to create. There’s been a long wait for whatever Morrowind game comes next after Skyrim, GTA6, the next Deltarune episode. They’re not scams, they just take an obnoxiously long amount of time to develop.
> went radio silent even on discord, while still drawing stuff?
I’ve responded to many DMs, comments, and written in discord whenever I see it. Please respect that I’m receiving 10+ private messages on any given day; I’m sorry if you had sent one and I missed getting back to you. The time I spend responding to them, the time I take to respond to this; that’s time spent I’m not working on anything.
The reason why you see drawings coming out is because I’m working at full speed, either directly on the game or I’m working on the comic or commissions to generate funds so the game can be created. I’m beyond grateful to you and anyone else who has supported the project at any point, any amount. I was headstrong when initially announcing the project off the back of a patron survey that had overwhelming support for the project on day 1. Unfortunately, the support never did materialize at a scale that could support the project on its own. At the peak of subscriber support for the VN, it worked out to be about $400 on the announcement month and quickly dropped down to $200/month. I stretch the money as far as it can go for the project but I do eat sometimes, so…
Maybe someday I could devote 100% of my time on a developing project, but the BRR project as a whole doesn’t exist without the comic drawing in fan support with content I can deliver now. The work has to be funded. There is no outside investor money to fund development, it’s just me. It’s being built off of $3 comic subs and commissions with my time split up between the projects that deliver now, and what’s being worked on at the same time behind the scenes.
Fun side note to look at… Recently, a really cool official Sonic the Hedgehog visual novel came out as a jokey-side project. It’s a super cool VN that managed to get rave reviews, but it’s on the shorter side of VNs at roughly 3 hours of total play time. I saw a post where the project lead discussed how their team created it in roughly 1 year. Then you take a look at the long list scrolling credits it has https://youtu.be/d4Ji4YcJmYc - omggg an exec producer, a project manager, lead game designer, art director, a writer, then a long list of auxiliary artists and other team members that worked on it too. A public relations person, I’d love to have one of those! 🫠 If just the 6 larger names credited at the start of the list did most of the work, half-time for a year… that’s a year of people-work-hours they put in for each hour of visual novel!
Expectations really need to be realistic, for myself too. I’m working at creating the VN, it’s a passion project of mine and I’m seeing the project through to make an amazing WG VN. It’ll take more time still, but please do look forward to it! ❤️
