Alright, guys. I’ve got something I want to talk about.
Earlier this month, I found some comments from this year by ShamefulRadio stating that she won’t be making any more games. Sorry to everyone who’s been anticipating a Wicked Pump sequel. Not only that, but the old demo of Knightpunks has been taken off of Itch.io.
I’ve waited a while to talk about this because I didn’t want to ruin anyone’s christmas.
I’m not sure how many of her fans know this, because she hasn’t made any kind of public statement about it on her deviantart or twitter. The only places I’ve seen her mention it is in replies to comments specifically asking about it. I only found out because one day I just randomly decided to check the comments on one of her posts.
The strangest part though, is that she didn’t give any explanation for it. It's clear that at one point she had plans for a full version of Knightpunks. I can tell she's genuinely passionate about what she does, so it's unlikely she would just walk away from a project like that without a good reason to.
I don't know what's going on in her life or what she's dealing with, and she has a right to keep that stuff private. I just want her to be upfront and honest about her intentions moving forward.
I'm saying this as an avid fan of Radio and her content. I definitely think she deserves more recognition for her work. She's easily one of the most talented and creative artists this community has ever had. The fetish stuff is great and all, but her style, character designs, and world building are what made me stick around, because of how imaginative it is. Everything she makes just oozes charm, and it never fails to put a smile on my face.
Wicked Pump was my introduction to Radio and her content. I learned about the project back when it was first being developed, and once the Knightpunks demo came out, I could tell it was going to be more than just a fetish game. As I kept up with each new post, I became fascinated by the world and characters Radio was creating, and I was always eager to learn more. By the time Basic Execution was released, I was genuinely excited to see how this project would continue to evolve. Even with years having gone by without any kind of status update on the next game, I still kept up hope that it was going to come out eventually.
So to suddenly find out, after all this time, that the project had been canceled for good? I was legitimately depressed.
Despite that, I'm not going to hold a grudge over this. I still admire Radio as an artist, and I’m still going to keep up with her art, because I think it’s pretty great.
Honestly, I’m not even sure how she feels about her decision. I remember reading something a few years back about how her hard drive got wiped due to a software glitch, and I think that’s most likely what made her quit. A massive loss like that would be enough to kill anyone’s motivation. If her dream was to create a complete gaming experience where her world is fully developed and explored in depth, it would be tragic for her to just give up on that dream. I think if she got more attention, she would have an easier time finding passionate developers who would be willing to help make her dream game a reality.
I would love to see her to return to this project someday, but if she’s adamant about her decision, then I guess it can’t be helped. It’s just that I’ve seen her potential as a creator, and I want her to reach it. I only wish her the best.
So yeah, that’s pretty much it.
For those wondering, Basic Execution is still up on Itch.io:
