>>317144 Actually, since posting this ive been thinking about Breaking the Scales and other Salt sequences since Losing Control, and I do have some thoughts: I think Losing Control really succeeded because it didnt need to be in color or have complicated shading, giving more time for storyboarding and figuring out cool visuals Every sequence since then feels like its sort of rushed through that process so it can be out in time and in color, alongside all the other art Salt does in the meanwhile. Amazingly, almost every single sequence feels very sloppily shaded and the plot is almost like its figured out as it goes. Does anyone else feel that way? Anyway, we need a "best of" folder for all the actually good art Salt does

>>317205 Throw in some of that actually peak salt art too while im at it
>>317205 Eh, Losing Control DOES HAVE "complicated shading". In fact, you could say he put more effort into it than his other comics which is why he only posted a single page weekly. Newer comics like Breaking the Scales are basically like "colored sketch" quality compared to it, probably so the pages come out faster. I believe that the problem is that Salt doesn't have a proper manuscript/storyboard before starting to work on the actual pages, which could explain why he always announces extra pages towards the end of each comic. Another issue is that he's way too risk-averse, he sticks to low-stakes plots without meaningful conflicts or character shifts so any interesting setup or theme the comic had at first ends up being executed in an unsatisfying way, leading to a predictable plot that just makes you go "that's it?" by the end. I understand that he's making these as if they were "Slice of Life anime" but he seems to be missing some of the important details such as key story moments, internal struggles, subtle character growth, overarching themes and the like that would make these comics much better
>>317211 I have to concur with alot of this, though I do still feel that Salt got away with a lot of the sloppiness that comes with a rapid release schedule by utilising the "grainy" filter which gives it a very low contrast look, and that shading is really nothing special either. On your point about storyboarding though I fully agree. Even in Losing Control you can notice that once the comic needs to wrap up, the tone has a huge and jarring shift from "getting fat sucks and everything's hard" to "i like it tho :) and she lived happily ever after". It's not as blatant as later sequences, but even after making it Salt mentioned struggling with it at points. Guess theres always been trouble in paradise?
>>317211 >In fact, you could say he put more effort into it than his other comics Yeah while overall I like it compared to his colored shorts, it's clear that he went a bit overboard with the application of screentones. It can look a bit amateurish, at times. He probably wouldn't have to worry about getting the moiré effect if he had more confidence in his panel compositions and line work.
>>317205 I think that if you don't have an idea how to pace and write a story then hire a writer and work together on figuring out where you want to go. BWS makes like 5k a month so im sure giving 200 a month to a writer wont be that big of a hit for him
>>317211 Thing is, a lot of people complain about anything so Salt probably has a hard time committing. People will cry if it isn’t a happy ending, people will be bored and angry if time is dedicated to character conflict and development rather than fanservice, and people also bitch when it’s the reverse. Honestly I don’t envy him, or any comic creator in the space.
>>317221 His fans throw him thousands a month and eat it all up, no need to feel bad for him. Personally I love his art, especially when he really goes above and beyond for it. When it comes to his less good stuff, it's just fun to discuss where it could have gone in a better direction, knowing his actual talent. This is a BWS thread after all, right?

>>317219 >can look a bit amateurish, at times. It almost looks *too* clean, if that makes sense? The obvious benefit in using screentones is how much you can cheaply add depth and shading to any scene without having to go through the rigamarole of manual hatching, but that doesn't exclude hatching altogether. At times, Losing Control looks like a full-color comic that was simply converted to B&W, rather than a comic that was made for B&W print in mind to begin with.
>>317231 Yeah and you better get used to it Jimmy
>>317226 God to see that first thing in the morning and hug her from behind would be peak
Wow years ago they make an edit of the two of them fat together and look at them now😁
Welp. Breaking the scales is over.
>>317245 We already know there's 3 more pages of this
>>317243 >mmm 11k for scraps of fats in a fucking comic >wastes 15 pages in shoehorned drama Would been a hundred times better if 80% of the comic was them getting here and bigger instead of this "whip cream on a burnt pancake" that we got... too fucking late
Now were probably gonna have a Saxxon situation of "uhhh goes blob in two pages" >Plot fags got bored of their sauceless wish >Fanservice fags got shafted Just hire a damn writer already Salt, you have the budget.
>>317243 this is how you write an actual good comic: https://e-hentai.org/g/3996825/88d883cd17/ It just focuses on the parts that people actually care for which is sex and girls getting fatter. No complicated story or filler pages. Just sequences and a page or two showing the aftermath. Could have easily just done an even of them trying to see who can feed the other more and everyone would have been happy, but that's too much work so lets just literally draw 2 fat fat girls on the couch doing nothing and call it a day.
>>317243 Mf i would take a 3 page comic of them on that marathon, sweaty, panting, jiggling and wheezing just to eat the equivalent of a chunk of their body weight in fastfood after tapping out 5 minutes into the competition, over this mess. The peak chases him, but the nigga is just faster in spewing slop.
>>317243 Olivia is now slightly bigger than how she started in Tipping the Scales, while Brooke continues to be the slow gainer. We'll see if Salt will make this go to Day 1,000 like in how Tipping the Scales ended, or if this is where their gains end. At the rate the two are going, it's possible for Olivia to catch up or surpass Brooke.
With Olivia gaining her weight back, this also means Salt no longer has an OC who is a standard BBW. Blob: Selene Immobile: Val USSBBW: Brooke Courtney Chloe SSBBW: Olivia Nat (Was USSBBW for one pic, but the next pic didn't keep her that big since it was a dream) Sammy Shannon Nicole Kate Brie BBW: Chubby: Thin: Halie
>>317264 This is why I wanted a continual role reversal. Salt just has way too many supersized girls to the point where there's no diversity. It's all 600+ pound women getting into the same kind of escapades. It's very boring after a certain point. Like Brooke separated herself from Courtney by being glum, genuinely slobbish, and (For a better word) stinky. Now she's back to being up in spirits again and Olivia is as big as when she started. Sammy exists, you don't need a second huge woman (That can still stand) that at some point was involved in fitness. It's the same issue Mochimochiland has. He (?) runs his two pairs of OCs through the same scenario of a gay feeder-feedee relationship to the point where I honestly confuse the two at times. Salt keeping all his girls around the same size just causes him to need to cycle through the same shit ad nauseam because he doesn't have any OCs that can be used for different shit.
>>317269 No one cares about your role reversal fetish, we want them fatter
>>317264 Patron OCs are kinda kinda diverse! Take a look at Siv for example
>>317269 I would've liked the double role reversal too, having Brooke slim back down to being a smaller size while Olivia got much fatter than where Brooke is right now.
I swear all thats missing is for BWS to use ai for this to be the worst coming hes ever made
when fanart is better than the source (by Flabjacks)

>>317273 The appeal of having so many OCs is being able to do different things with them. If every character is the exact same cookie-cutter plot/weight/shape/personality, then all that accomplishes is making people unhappy because more OCs means more time between drawings of any given one of them. If all you want from this comic is "the hot redheaded one gets fatter" then fair enough, but the thing that actually made Olivia and Brooke unique was the role reversal/size contrast from the first comic, Brooke being moody and pretty slobby, and Olivia being smaller and having some level of "fitness". IMO, Olivia being almost as big as Brooke now makes them both look smaller cause there's no contrast. And it'll be uninteresting if they end the comic just being two happy fat friends.

>>317256 It's crazy that people are paying for that, it looks like shit
>>317333 It was one of there earlier works, but even that looks hotter than whatever BWS is doing rn
>>317340 I checked him out and his current work's quality is about the same as that comic, it's also very clear that dude is tracing AI, which makes him earning 4k a month more frustrating.
>>317341 From what I read they use references or 3d models and then draw over them: https://pawchive.pw/patreon/user/148922641/post/136596103
>>317333 >>317341 Steelcook very obviously relies on 3d assets from the CSP store. His comics only look bad because the coloring resembles a 90s X-Men comic: every scene is so uniformly lit (despite the presence of depth and shadow), you end up getting this soap opera effect. The shapes of his figures and the scenarios he tends to adapt are all great, though. I hope he continues to improve.
>>317358 It definetly is hard sometimes seeing whats background and whats not with the lack of textures and shadows, but i still find his comics hot and the fact all show actual sex and force feeding is nice for change compared to every other artist whose just gotten soft
>>317261 It wasn’t the most interesting comic, but Olivia is finally just a bit fatter than her highest weight. I’ll take the win. Making her lose weight in the first place was a mistake.
>>317264 This perfectly describes why I’ve lost interest in BWS. No chubbier just fat chicks anymore. Just SBBW or blobs
>>317256 anon this does not look good at all
>>317264 I fuckin love massive ass bitches but man, I haven't enjoyed how ALL of his OCs are in the largest end now. I miss the old variety.

You have to let it all go, Anons. Mobility, non-blobs, and weight loss. Free your mind.
>>317402 >I haven't enjoyed how ALL of his OCs are in the largest end now. Largest end, yet only two of them could be considered in that department. More than half of her OCs are his most frequently drawn size of SSBBW. Do you even know what you're saying? >>317384 >Just SBBW or blobs Completely ignores Val, Brooke, Courtney, Chloe, and Halie who aren't either of these. Ok doomposter.
>>317406 >Do you even know what you're saying? It's not a salt thread unless there's a whinny faggot who can't even articulate himself. This is why pajeetland or whatever brown shithole he's from doesn't deserve internet access.
>>317406 > Val Blob. Hasn't drawn her below USSBBW in years. > Brooke Blob. > Courtney USSBBW whose most recent appearance has been as a blob. > Chloe SSBBW. > Halie Her gimmick is that she's actually a healthy weight and Salt refuses to deviate this for once. None of his characters are below 400 pounds now. Zero variety.
>>317413 Go fuck yourself, nigga.
