Do people judge someone's proximity to them based on the distance to their head or to their body in general? In other words, would a larger person perceive others as being closer than they would perceive them at a thinner size? My apologies if this is a bit of an odd question, but it's a question that I haven't been able to answer for myself, on account of having been thin all my life and not having many close interactions with significantly wider people.

This would be an interesting study but on an individual basis there are too many factors to consider. First off, everyone has their own idea of what's a comfortable amount of personal space, whatever their size. Also I'd imagine it would depend upon when someone got fat and how much weight they've gained. Someone who grew up fat might not be as aware of the dimensions of their body — or the opposite, where they're overly self-conscious of how much space they take up.
