weight gain melody Anon us
by No. 92837
I noticed that some cartoons will use a melody when a character chows down and rapidly packs on the pounds. I was wondering where it came from. I fiddled around with a piano and F-A-B-B-B♭-B is a good approximation. It was used from the reason and emotion short from the 40s where the woman went to the cafe and got fat and the Animaniacs Star Trek Episode when Scotty started inhaling Donuts. The Scotty one is a direct reference to "Shortenin' Bread" an Americana/folk song from the turn of the century. The Disney seems to riff on that melody but it's more of an interpolation than a direct reference. It escalates in intensity along with the character's conflict.
