I (regrettably) browsed archived threads on /co and /aco to find some information from the few who got the models to work. I'm not a seasoned 3D artist, but I hope this might help someone who is.
- Most early-season models are dependent on abandoned Maya plugins and/or features, which makes it impossible to port these to newer, less janky versions of Maya (or Blender) without huge manual effort
- The models require an additional plugin for the hair called V-Ray, which some random anon sourced a crack for on Yandex: link to VRAY for Maya 2015 - magnet:?xt=urn:btih:C8238A76428944022CA83D576FD9678706B41478&dn=V-Ray_adv_2.40.02_For%20Maya%202015_x64&tr=http%3a%2f%2fbt2.t-ru.org%2 %2f%2ftracker.btorrent.xyz
- On the /aco thread people had actually created shit like undressed Marinette. Just a word of warning or inspiration depending on how you look at it
- In that thread, a link was provided to a torrent on rarbg: https://rarbg.to/torrent/r6tod4y. However, that site shut down in 2023. A quick Google search revealed that there is an archive site at rarbg.pw, and that site has a listing for Maya 2015
- The textures for the models are incorrectly linked to the models, which needs to be rectified manually
- Maya 2015 is prone to crashes, and runs best (read: crashes less often) on old versions of Windows or with compatibility modes. It has high system requirements and even then may not run particularly smooth
- The leaked models are posted on IA. Since that file would most definitely be nuked if the wrong people find it, I'm hesitant to link it directly. However, one can find it by searching there for "archive" "miraculous", which may or may not be in a different order, and may or may not be written without a space.
- There is another required plugin included with the Cat Noir model folder, this could potentially be the plugin that was included with Juleka's model in the wetransfer drop
Naturally, I haven't tried to download any of this. I'm not casually downloading a random executable shared by someone on 4chan, thank you very much. I also cannot vouch for the rarbg mirror, nor the specific uploader. At least I hope that this information might help someone create something interesting
